Belief & Suitability

No. Reiki is not a religion, and you do not need to follow any particular faith or belief system to receive it.

No. You do not need to believe in Reiki to receive a session. You can be unsure, sceptical, or simply curious.

People of different ages and backgrounds can receive Reiki. Specific circumstances, such as pregnancy, childhood, or ongoing medical treatment, may need to be considered separately.

Your Reiki Session

A Reiki session usually begins with a brief conversation about the session and any preferences you may have. You can then sit or lie comfortably while the practitioner carries out the session. You do not need to do anything specific during it.

Yes. You remain fully clothed throughout the Reiki session.

No. In my Reiki sessions, I work without physical touch and keep my hands just above the body.

That can happen. You do not need to feel any particular sensation during Reiki. Some people notice sensations, while others notice very little or nothing at all.

Session Length & Frequency

There is no fixed schedule for how often you should have Reiki. How often you have a session can vary from person to person, so you do not need to follow a set interval.

Safety & Medical Care

Reiki is generally considered safe. It is non-invasive and has not been shown to cause harmful effects.

Yes. Reiki can generally be received alongside medical treatment. You do not need to stop or change the medical care you are already receiving in order to have Reiki.

No. Reiki should not replace medical treatment.

Yes. Reiki can be received during pregnancy. In my practice, I provide regular Reiki during pregnancy, but not Crystal Healing with Reiki.

Yes. Children can receive Reiki. A parent or guardian should give consent, and the child’s comfort and willingness should be respected during the session.

Distance Reiki & Booking

In an in-person Reiki session, you and the practitioner are together in the same place. With Distance Reiki, you and the practitioner are in different locations during the session.

Yes. Many people report experiencing the effects of Reiki during a distance session. Distance Reiki can also be an option if you feel comfortable with a particular Reiki practitioner but are not able to visit them in person.

Look for a Reiki practitioner who is properly trained and certified, clearly explains what the session involves, respects your consent and comfort, and avoids unrealistic promises. You should also feel comfortable asking questions before choosing a practitioner.

Yes. You need to book an appointment before a Reiki session so the time can be arranged in advance.
